From the Housing Unit

Meet Mr. Alan Jackson, a resilient veteran who faced the threat of eviction after losing his wife to a long-battled cancer in 2022. When he reached out to our Subsidized Housing Appointments, our dedicated housing team, including Efrain Partida, Pafracio Vallente, and myself, stepped in to provide support.

Navigating the complexities of both an eviction case and the grieving process as a widower, Mr. Jackson found solace in our housing team’s services. Together, we successfully defended him in his eviction case, reaching a settlement with his landlord. Now, our compassionate case management team is actively assisting Mr. Jackson in finding suitable housing tailored to veterans’ needs.

During a heartfelt meeting at our Norwalk office before Christmas, Mr. Jackson expressed his ongoing struggle with the loss of his wife. However, he acknowledged that relocating to a new apartment could bring positive changes to his life. When he initially faced the daunting prospect of an eviction lawsuit, he called our hotline, where he was reassured that we would do our utmost to assist him, and, if needed, alternative resources would be explored. Knowing this, Mr. Jackson felt secure in our capable hands.

This success story reflects the dedication of our exceptional team, and I take pride in supporting not only Mr. Jackson but also other tenants facing similar challenges. At our core, we are committed to making a positive impact in the lives of those in need.
