The Legal Aid Society of Orange County’s (LASOC) Health Consumer Action Center will be honored for its legal advocacy work at the Health Net Partner Appreciation Night on April 21, 2016. Sara Lee, LASOC Supervising Attorney, will accept the honor on behalf of the department.

HCAC assists health consumers, including low-income and underrepresented individuals, in accessing the health care system. As the only program of its kind in Orange County, HCAC provides legal advocacy and expertise to help health care consumers obtain the coverage and benefits they need. Without assistance from health care advocates, many consumers continue to be denied essential health care and face barriers to healthcare services, even when such care is guaranteed under the law.

Every month, HCAC closes over 50 cases, and since Covered California opened in 2014, HCAC has handled almost 2,000 cases. “Every day, our goal is to advocate for and help individuals who otherwise have nowhere else to go,” says Sara. “We are honored to receive this recognition from Health Net for our work.” Learn more about HCAC’s impact in the community by reading some client success stories:
